RECOGNIZES GREG REID AS 2003 TRANSPORTATION MARKETING EXECUTIVE
OF THE YEAR
A photo of Gregory
Reid is available.
(MINNEAPOLIS)—The Transportation Marketing
& Communications Association (TMCA) recently announced
at its annual conference that Greg Reid, senior vice president
and chief communications officer of Yellow Corp., has been
named the “2003 Transportation Marketing Executive of the
Year.”
This is the first year TMCA has presented
this award to recognize a professional who has demonstrated
an understanding of the valuable roles that marketing, sales
and communications play in the success and profitability of
an organization. With nominations made by members at large,
TMCA considered more than 15 potential executive candidates
for this recognition. All considered candidates were required
to be senior marketing leaders within the North American transportation
industry, have demonstrated ongoing excellence in the field
of transportation or logistics marketing, and have overall
responsibility for managing or executing marketing, sales
or programs during the 2002 calendar year.
“Greg Reid embodies the leadership, professionalism
and strategic creativity that every marketing executive must
have in order to successfully leverage marketing to make things
happen for their organizations,” said Brian Everett, TMCA’s
executive director. “More and more transportation companies
are realizing the value and results that can be generated
through strategic marketing professionals such as Mr. Reid.”
Reid is responsible for brand and marketing
strategy, and communications for all operating subsidiaries
of Yellow Corp. In addition, he maintains responsibility for
public, government and community relations. Among his accomplishments
in 2002, Reid provided steering committee leadership for ongoing
corporate strategy development; led the development of the
communications plan for the successful launch of Meridian
IQ, the non-asset-based Yellow subsidiary; encouraged further
development of Yellow’s biannual Transportation Conference
that brings together customers and employees with such outstanding
speakers as Rudy Giuliani, Jim Collins and Tom Peters; and
elevated the profile of professional drivers within Yellow
by promoting the National Truck Driving Championships. Prior
to joining Yellow in 1997, Reid held management positions
with Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers, Shaklee, Memorex,
and Ryder Logistics. He holds a BBA degree in marketing from
the University of Cincinnati, and also serves on a variety
of board, including NCR Transportation, Arizona State University
Center for Services Marketing & Management, and the TMCA
Advisory Council.
TMCA
