TMCA Recognizes Organizations for Outstanding Marketing

MINNEAPOLIS—The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) recently announced the recipients of the 2009 Compass Awards. This awards program recognizes organizations in North American transportation and logistics that have created innovative, results-oriented marketing and communications programs.

“The Compass awards program encourages transportation and logistics companies to raise the bar in their marketing innovation while ensuring a direct correlation to bottom-line performance,” said Hernan Vera, Group Director, Sales & Marketing, Global Supply Chain Solutions, Ryder System Inc. and current TMCA president.

This year, TMCA received nearly 165 entries from more than 70 organizations. Approximately 12 percent of those entries received awards of excellence, with another 28 percent receiving awards of merit. All entries were evaluated by three regional judging teams in Illinois, Ohio, and Tennessee, using a 6-point scaling system. Fifty percent of the total score is based on the Work Blueprint—a detailed write-up on the marketing campaign. The remaining 50 percent is based upon the actual creative work samples.

Compass Award recipients will be honored at a formal gala June 2, the final event of TMCA's Annual Conference at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, Calif.
